Job Description
The main role is to spend some time with him during the week, help him with homework and school subjects when needed, and offer a positive young presence at home. David attends a Cambridge language high school, speaks English at C1 level and studies German and French. His most difficult subjects are mathematics, physics, chemistry and science, so experience tutoring one or more of these subjects would be especially valuable.
The ideal candidate would also enjoy simply spending time with him: talking, watching films, playing videogames, going for a walk, cycling, going to the pool or doing other activities together. David is extremely shy, so patience, sensitivity and the ability to build trust naturally are very important.
We are particularly interested in native English or native German speakers, although strong English is essential. Previous tutoring experience is preferred, especially with teenagers, but formal teaching qualifications are not required.
The commitment is around 15 hours per week, with no rigid schedule. We organise the week together and the tutor will have plenty of free time for study, work, travel, sport or personal projects.
Some light practical help around the house may occasionally be appreciated, such as grocery shopping, taking out the rubbish or helping with simple tasks, but the main focus is David and academic support.
