Family's Introduction to Au Pair
Hello,
Our names are Elizavéta and Anton, and we live in a 8-room house in the small town of Ödeshög in the middle of Sweden, 2.5 hours from the capital (Stockholm) and the second largest city (Gothenburg). The town has a few restaurants, two cafes, a gym, library and grocery store, as well as a very active running and skiing community. Next to us is the lake Vättern, as well as the nature reserve and mountain of Omberg. We are looking for a native Russian speaker as we will be moving to Russia before our oldest starts school. Our daughters Valentina and Yaromira were born in October 2021 and November of 2023 respectively, and our son Konstantin was born in November 2025.
Anton speaks only Swedish and English, while Elizavéta is fluent in Russian too. We wish for our au pair to speak Russian with our children.
Apart from the five of us, we also have an African Grey parrot.
We celebrate both Russian and Swedish holidays. 9th of May is particularly important to us. We do not care which, if any, religion our au pair adheres to.
Sweden is particularly suitable for people who wish to learn English as most understand the language well. Our educational system is good and there are plenty of options for studies.
Our first au pair took English courses, second studied Swedish, third and fourth English. We can provide the contact details of our previous au pairs so the future one can take references on us.

Job Description
Start date: October 2026.
Both of us work from home 8-17:00 most weekdays and sometimes Saturdays. Liza travels for work 1-2 days a week.
While the hours of this job are long, the intensity is low.
We practice authoritative, low effort parenting, which means we have few rules, but those that are in place are upheld regardless of the childrens' reactions to them. We believe in fostering self-confidence and agency, which is impossible if an adult is willing to solve most issues for the children.
Our attitude is hands off, and we aren't looking for the au pair to be a friend to our children – they have siblings for that. Instead, the au pair is the non-micromanaging boss during work hours and makes sure they don't get seriously injured. Bone fractures are anticipated, brain damage is not.
Valentina:
- Has an immense interest for machinery and building constructions.
- Loves physical activity and is an excellent runner and climber.
- Goes to kindergarten 08:00-11:00 Monday to Friday.
- Minimally verbal due to her autism, but she speaks Russian when required to.
- Follows intructions and is not aggressive.
Yara:
- Social, loves the company of people she is familiar with.
- Enjoys being read to.
- Has a lot of character and is rather bossy.
- More sensitive than her sister and would benefit from adapting a more stoic mindset.
- Risk-averse and needs to be put in more challenging situations to build confidence.
- Goes to kindergarten 8-11 Monday to Friday.
Konstantin:
Is the easiest baby. He crawls around and is very independent.
The girls play well together and enjoy each other's company. There is a mutual respect between them.
In short, we expect the au pair to make sure the kids are alive when we take over at the end of the working day. Intensive, scheduled days with hands on management and a neurotic au pair is not what we want. We believe the best environment for children is within a large family constellation where they have to navigate most issues on their own.
