Dear Family,
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application for the position of Nanny/Governess with
your family. I would be delighted to have the opportunity to become a trusted and caring part of
your household and believe that my experience, skills and genuine passion for childcare would allow
me to make a positive contribution to your family.
My name is Nicola, I am 34 years old, and I was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. I am a
hardworking, responsible, dependable and punctual individual with nearly 18 years of professional
work experience, including approximately 7 years of dedicated childcare experience.
Throughout my childcare career, I have had the privilege of working internationally as a Governess,
Maternity Nanny, Nanny and Au Pair in The Netherlands, the United States and Saudi Arabia, as well
as gaining extensive childcare experience in South Africa. I have accumulated more than 10,000
hours of childcare experience, caring for children from newborns through to 17 years of age. My
experience includes newborn and maternity care, early childhood development, educational
activities and caring for children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, OCD and anxiety.
I am passionate about creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel
happy, supported and encouraged to learn and grow. I enjoy planning creative and educational
activities tailored to each child’s individual interests and developmental stage. I particularly enjoy
baking, drawing, painting, reading and playing board games, especially educational games.
I am a confident swimmer and hold a valid driver’s licence. I am an experienced driver and am
comfortable driving both manual and automatic vehicles, with experience driving on both the left-
and right-hand sides of the road. I am a non-smoker. In addition to fluent English, I speak Afrikaans
and Dutch.
I am First Aid Level 1 qualified and hold a valid police clearance certificate. Throughout my academic
and professional career, I have consistently been described as detail-oriented, respectful,
independent, flexible and trustworthy. I pride myself on being adaptable to each family’s individual
values, routines and expectations while maintaining a high level of professionalism, discretion and
confidentiality.
I understand that inviting a nanny or governess into your home is a position of great trust. My goal is
not only to provide excellent childcare, but also to build a genuine, respectful relationship with both
the children and their parents and to provide parents with peace of mind knowing that their children
are in capable and caring hands.
