Dear Future Host Family,
My name is Sylvia, and I am from Nigeria. I am a responsible, hardworking, adaptable, and trustworthy person who enjoys spending time with children and being part of a family environment.
I would like to become an au pair because I want to experience life in another country and learn about a different culture and way of life. I am especially interested in getting to know people from different backgrounds, while also sharing my own culture and experiences with my host family.
I have experience caring for children between the ages of 2 and 10, mainly children of family members and neighbours. Although this has not been professional childcare, I am comfortable taking care of children and enjoy their company. I have cooked for them, read stories to them, taken them for walks, and spent time keeping them company.
I believe a host family can rely on me because I am dependable and can be trusted. I am also willing to help with household responsibilities and understand that being an au pair involves being respectful of the family's routines, rules, and way of life. I would be happy to support the family with childcare and everyday household tasks.
I have lived away from home before and adapted well because I am able to take care of myself. I can cook, do laundry, keep my surroundings organised, and handle my daily responsibilities independently. I believe these skills will also help me adapt to life with a host family.
I speak English fluently and I am currently a beginner in German and Spanish. I am interested in improving my language skills through everyday communication and interaction with people from another culture.
In my free time, I enjoy braiding, reading, singing, dancing, and cooking. I would also be happy to share some of these interests with the children and learn about their interests as well.
I hope my au pair experience will allow me to learn more about how people from different backgrounds and cultures live, while building a good relationship with my host family and making a positive contribution to their home.
I am open to learning and appreciate honest communication. If I make a mistake or need to improve something, I prefer to be corrected calmly so that I can understand what is expected of me and do better.
