Hi! My name is Kristen. I am 20 years old and from Taiwan. I am currently a university student at National Taiwan University and planning to take a gap year. I hope to spend this time living abroad, experiencing a different culture and becoming part of a family’s everyday life rather than simply travelling as a tourist.

I have worked as a private tutor for over two years, mainly with school aged children and teenagers. What I enjoy most about working with children is getting to know them as individuals. I like listening to what they want to tell me, learning about their interests and finding different ways to connect with their personalities. My students often talk to me about school, football, Minecraft, Pokémon or whatever they are interested in at the moment, and I genuinely enjoy being part of their world.

I have also worked at a children’s science camp, where I helped guide activities, crafts and group games. Most of my childcare experience is with school aged children rather than toddlers or infants, so I want to be honest about that. I am willing to learn and would be happy to gain experience with younger children with guidance from the family.

I have lived independently since I was 18, so I am comfortable managing daily life on my own, cooking simple meals, keeping my space tidy and handling my own schedule. Mandarin Chinese is my native language, and I use English comfortably in everyday life and work. I would also be happy to share Mandarin and Taiwanese culture with your family.

In my free time, I enjoy watching European football, making beaded bracelets and small accessories, exploring new places, trying different foods and learning bits of new languages. My family also has two cats, so I am very comfortable around pets.

I hope to find a family where we can communicate openly, respect each other and feel comfortable together. I would love to be part of your family’s daily life while also having the chance to experience life in a new country and learn from each other.
