Hello dear host family!
My name is Faith, I am from Nigeria, and I am very excited about the possibility of becoming an au pair and sharing a meaningful experience with a lovely host family abroad. I would describe myself as caring, friendly, responsible, patient, curious and a little bit playful. I enjoy meeting new people, learning about different cultures and making people around me feel comfortable. I am also someone who believes that the little things matter, whether it is making a child laugh after a difficult day, helping with homework, preparing a simple meal together, listening when someone wants to talk, or simply being there when I am needed.
The main reason I am interested in becoming an au pair is because I would love to experience another culture in a genuine way. I don’t just want to visit another country as a tourist and see the popular places. I would love to actually experience everyday family life, learn about another culture and build a real connection with the people I live with. I think living with a host family is a beautiful opportunity to learn from each other. I can introduce my family, traditions, food, music and Nigerian culture to you, while also learning about your way of life, your traditions and the things that make your family special.
I have always enjoyed being around children, and I understand that taking care of children requires much more than simply making sure they are safe. Children need patience, attention, encouragement and someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with them. I would love to be someone your children can feel comfortable around and trust. I would be happy to play games with them, read stories, help them with their homework, accompany them to activities, spend time outdoors, do creative activities together and help with their normal daily routines.I would try to create a balance between being someone they can have fun with and someone who understands the importance of rules and routines. I know that every child is different, so I would take time to understand each child’s personality, interests and needs rather than assuming that one approach works for everyone.
I am also very open to learning. I don’t expect to arrive in a new country knowing everything, and I think that is part of what makes the au pair experience exciting. I am willing to learn your family’s routines, your expectations, the children’s schedules and the way you normally do things at home. I value communication, so if there is ever something I am unsure about, I would rather ask and understand than make assumptions.

Outside of childcare, I am a very creative and energetic person. One of my biggest passions is dancing. I love Afrobeats and I enjoy learning choreography, practicing and expressing myself through dance. Dancing is something that makes me genuinely happy, and I would definitely be excited to share some of that energy with my future host family. Maybe I could even teach the children a few easy Afrobeats moves!
I also enjoy music, discovering new places, spending time with friends and family, and trying new things. I am naturally curious, so I enjoy learning about people and places that are different from what I already know. I would love to explore during my free time, see beautiful places, experience new traditions, try new foods and hopefully make some wonderful memories along the way.

I am particularly excited about Denmark because I would love to experience Danish culture and everyday life. I am interested in learning more about the language, food, traditions and lifestyle. I know that moving to another country, even temporarily, can come with a period of adjustment, but I am prepared to be open-minded, respectful and willing to learn. I also understand that being an au pair means becoming part of a household, so I would treat your home, your routines and your privacy with respect.
I would love to have a host family where communication goes both ways. For me, a good relationship between an au pair and a host family should be based on honesty, respect, kindness and understanding. I don’t expect everything to be perfect all the time because every family and every person is different. What matters to me is being able to communicate openly when something needs to be discussed and finding solutions together.
I would also love to become someone your children can look forward to spending time with. Whether that means playing outside, drawing, dancing around the living room, helping with schoolwork, watching a movie together, going for a walk or simply talking about their day, I would like my time with them to be something they enjoy and remember positively.
At the same time, I understand that I am coming into your family as an au pair and not as a replacement parent. I would respect your parenting style and follow the ground rules or routines you’ve established for your children.
