Dear Host Family,

My name is Lucia, I am a 26-year-old from Italy, currently living in Milan, where I am completing my studies in Aerospace Engineering. I grew up in a close-knit family of four—my parents, my younger brother, and me—together with our adorable, chubby cat. I am fluent in both English and French, with C1 certifications in both languages, and I have an international background thanks to my early education at the International School of Genoa and my French Baccalauréat.

Having already experienced life as an Au Pair, I know how rewarding it can be to become part of a family’s everyday life while discovering another culture from within. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children and creating a relationship based on trust, patience, and mutual respect. At the same time, living abroad and connecting with people from different backgrounds is something I find extremely enriching. I see being an Au Pair as a genuine cultural exchange: an opportunity to share my own language, traditions, and experiences while learning from another family and their way of life.

I believe I can be a valuable addition to a host family because I am patient, caring, responsible, and adaptable. I enjoy finding ways to make time with children fun and engaging, whether through games, crafts, learning activities, or simply spending time outdoors. At the same time, I understand that being an Au Pair is also about being dependable in everyday life. I am organised and comfortable taking responsibility, and I am happy to contribute to the household and adapt to a family’s routines. I also lead a healthy lifestyle, as I neither smoke nor drink.

I have solid and diverse childcare experience. Most recently, from September to December 2025, I worked with an international family in Geneva, mainly caring for their 5-year-old son, who is autistic and has ADHD. My responsibilities included picking him up from school, caring for him throughout the afternoon, preparing meals when needed, driving him to school and after-school activities, and helping with light household tasks. This experience taught me a great deal about adapting to a child’s individual needs, being patient and attentive, and managing everyday responsibilities independently.

Previously, I spent two months as an Au Pair in Boston, caring for two boys aged 5 and 9. I have also regularly babysat my younger American cousins since they were toddlers and have experience tutoring children from preschool to middle school in both English and French. Together, these experiences have made me confident caring for children of different ages, personalities, and needs.

I would be very happy to bring my experience, languages, and international background to my next host family and, above all, to become someone both the children and parents can trust and rely on. I look forward to sharing everyday life with a new family and creating another meaningful experience together.
